Bookfolk
A downloadable game
Every Librarian will tell you that sometimes it feels like the books are alive. And then they’ll smile, like they know something you don’t. Which stands to reason; they spend all day surrounded by knowledge. They’re bound to have picked up a thing or two.
But here’s the thing: They’re right. Every book has a Sprite. And the secret job of the Librarian is to ensure these Sprites’ good health and make sure they don’t get into too much trouble. Nobody else knows this. If there’s one thing Librarians are very good at, it’s keeping quiet.
In Bookfolk, you play the Librarians charged with keeping order in an ever more chaotic library. Balance the needs of the Patrons and Sprites in the library while trying to keep on top of the mess and maybe sneaking in a nice cup of tea.
Bookfolk is based on Maxwell Lander’s excellent Oddfolk system, in which you usually succeed, but often create additional problems for yourself in the process.
- Calm over exited Book Sprites!
- Loan books to change your Patrons minds!
- Shush noisy people into total silence, or glare at them so hard you start a fire!
It’s never quiet in a library.

This was a Submission for the Eternal TTRPG Jam - January 2026 - Little Gods. I intend to keep working on Bookfolk. The next step is a lot of playtesting!
